Join Pilsen Classical on a shimmering summer evening to close out summer with a musical night full of sentimentality and dazzling bohemian flair. This event is to say goodbye to summer, and a new hello to our Pilsen community! Known for our spontaneous and intimate chamber music gatherings, this program is our way of reintroducing ourselves to Pilsen and sharing music and community with the neighborhood that has embraced us.

This programmed set paints a portrait of the Pilsen neighborhood, with a nod to its bohemian roots with Leos Janacek’s second String Quartet, titled Intimate Letters. This dynamic work is paired with fresh and sentimental pieces for string quartet by Javier Alvarez and Mario Lavista, which reflect our personal memories of the Pilsen neighborhood during the height of the pandemic, when Pilsen Classical planted its roots.

Join us at the Pilsen Arts and Community House to connect with community, fellow artists, and musicians, celebrate the summer, and enjoy phenomenal and exciting live music. You are encouraged to dress to reflect the twinkling night sky, so dress to dazzle or simply sparkly! The 45 min programmed set will be over by 9pm and you’re invited to keep the night going with us until all our refreshments are polished off.

program:

Javier Alvarez: ˆMetro Chabacano for string quartet
Leoš Janáček: String Quartet No. 2 Intimate Letters
Mario Lavista: Reflejos de la Noche for string quartet

This program has no intermission.

This event is made possible through the support of a Sphinx Organization MPower Artist Grant.
